بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُّبِينًا﴿١﴾

Indeed We have inaugurated for you a clear victory,(1)

لِّيَغْفِرَ لَكَ ٱللَّهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِن ذَنۢبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ

that Allah may forgive you what is past of your sin and what is to come,

وَيُتِمَّ نِعْمَتَهُۥ عَلَيْكَ وَيَهْدِيَكَ صِرَٰطًا مُّسْتَقِيمًا﴿٢﴾

and that He may perfect His blessing upon you and guide you on a straight path,(2)

وَيَنصُرَكَ ٱللَّهُ نَصْرًا عَزِيزًا﴿٣﴾

and Allah will help you with a mighty help.(3)

هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ ٱلسَّكِينَةَ فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

It is He who sent down composure into the hearts of the faithful

لِيَزْدَادُوٓا۟ إِيمَـٰنًا مَّعَ إِيمَـٰنِهِمْ ۗ

that they might enhance in their faith.

وَلِلَّهِ جُنُودُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ

To Allah belong the hosts of the heavens and the earth,

وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا﴿٤﴾

and Allah is all-knowing, all-wise.(4)

لِّيُدْخِلَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ جَنَّـٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ

That He may admit the faithful, men and women, into gardens with streams running in them,

خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا وَيُكَفِّرَ عَنْهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ ۚ

to remain in them [forever], and that He may absolve them of their misdeeds.

وَكَانَ ذَٰلِكَ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ فَوْزًا عَظِيمًا﴿٥﴾

That is a great success with Allah.(5)

وَيُعَذِّبَ ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَ وَٱلْمُنَـٰفِقَـٰتِ وَٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ وَٱلْمُشْرِكَـٰتِ

That He may punish the hypocrites, men and women, and the polytheists, men and women,

ٱلظَّآنِّينَ بِٱللَّهِ ظَنَّ ٱلسَّوْءِ ۚ عَلَيْهِمْ دَآئِرَةُ ٱلسَّوْءِ ۖ

who entertain a bad opinion of Allah. For them shall be an adverse turn of fortune:

وَغَضِبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَعَنَهُمْ

Allah is wrathful with them and He has cursed them,

وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ جَهَنَّمَ ۖ وَسَآءَتْ مَصِيرًا﴿٦﴾

and prepared hell for them and it is an evil destination.(6)

وَلِلَّهِ جُنُودُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ

To Allah belong the hosts of the heavens and the earth,

وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمًا﴿٧﴾

and Allah is all-mighty, all-wise.(7)

إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَـٰكَ شَـٰهِدًا وَمُبَشِّرًا وَنَذِيرًا﴿٨﴾

Indeed We have sent you as a witness, and as a bearer of good news and warner,(8)

لِّتُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَتُعَزِّرُوهُ وَتُوَقِّرُوهُ

that you may have faith in Allah and His Apostle, and that you may support him and revere him,

وَتُسَبِّحُوهُ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا﴿٩﴾

and that you may glorify Him morning and evening.(9)

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُبَايِعُونَكَ إِنَّمَا يُبَايِعُونَ ٱللَّهَ

Indeed those who swear allegiance to you, swear allegiance only to Allah:

يَدُ ٱللَّهِ فَوْقَ أَيْدِيهِمْ ۚ

the hand of Allah is above their hands.

فَمَن نَّكَثَ فَإِنَّمَا يَنكُثُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِۦ ۖ

Then whosoever breaks his oath, breaks it only to his own detriment,

وَمَنْ أَوْفَىٰ بِمَا عَـٰهَدَ عَلَيْهُ ٱللَّهَ فَسَيُؤْتِيهِ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا﴿١٠﴾

and whoever fulfills the covenant he has made with Allah, He will give him a great reward.(10)

سَيَقُولُ لَكَ ٱلْمُخَلَّفُونَ مِنَ ٱلْأَعْرَابِ

The Bedouins who had stayed back [from joining the Prophet in his ‘umrah journey to Makkah] will tell you,

شَغَلَتْنَآ أَمْوَٰلُنَا وَأَهْلُونَا فَٱسْتَغْفِرْ لَنَا ۚ

‘Our possessions and families kept us occupied. So plead [to Allah] for our forgiveness!’

يَقُولُونَ بِأَلْسِنَتِهِم مَّا لَيْسَ فِى قُلُوبِهِمْ ۚ

They will say with their tongues what is not in their hearts.

قُلْ فَمَن يَمْلِكُ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيْـًٔا إِنْ أَرَادَ بِكُمْ ضَرًّا أَوْ أَرَادَ بِكُمْ نَفْعًۢا ۚ

Say, ‘Whether He desires to cause you harm or desires to bring you benefit, who can be of any avail to you against Allah[’s will]?

بَلْ كَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرًۢا﴿١١﴾

Indeed Allah is well aware of what you do.’(11)

بَلْ ظَنَنتُمْ أَن لَّن يَنقَلِبَ ٱلرَّسُولُ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِيهِمْ أَبَدًا

Rather, you thought that the Apostle and the faithful will not ever return to their folks,

وَزُيِّنَ ذَٰلِكَ فِى قُلُوبِكُمْ وَظَنَنتُمْ ظَنَّ ٱلسَّوْءِ

and that was made to seem decorous to your hearts; you entertained evil thoughts,

وَكُنتُمْ قَوْمًۢا بُورًا﴿١٢﴾

and you were a ruined lot.(12)

وَمَن لَّمْ يُؤْمِنۢ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ

Those who have no faith in Allah and His Apostle [should know that]

فَإِنَّآ أَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ سَعِيرًا﴿١٣﴾

We have prepared a blaze for the faithless.(13)

وَلِلَّهِ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ

To Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth:

يَغْفِرُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ

He forgives whomever He wishes, and punishes whomever He wishes,

وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا﴿١٤﴾

and Allah is all-forgiving, all-merciful.(14)

سَيَقُولُ ٱلْمُخَلَّفُونَ إِذَا ٱنطَلَقْتُمْ إِلَىٰ مَغَانِمَ لِتَأْخُذُوهَا

[In the near future] when you will set out to capture booty, those who stayed behind [in this journey] will say,

ذَرُونَا نَتَّبِعْكُمْ ۖ يُرِيدُونَ أَن يُبَدِّلُوا۟ كَلَـٰمَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ

‘Let us follow you.’ They desire to change the word of Allah.

قُل لَّن تَتَّبِعُونَا كَذَٰلِكُمْ قَالَ ٱللَّهُ مِن قَبْلُ ۖ

Say, ‘You will never follow us! Allah has said thus beforehand.’

فَسَيَقُولُونَ بَلْ تَحْسُدُونَنَا ۚ

Then they will say, ‘You are envious of us.’

بَلْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا﴿١٥﴾

Indeed, they do not understand but a little.(15)

قُل لِّلْمُخَلَّفِينَ مِنَ ٱلْأَعْرَابِ

Say to the Bedouins who stayed behind,

سَتُدْعَوْنَ إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ أُو۟لِى بَأْسٍ شَدِيدٍ

‘[Later on] you will be called against a people of a great might:

تُقَـٰتِلُونَهُمْ أَوْ يُسْلِمُونَ ۖ

they will either embrace Islam, or you will fight them.

فَإِن تُطِيعُوا۟ يُؤْتِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ أَجْرًا حَسَنًا ۖ

So if you obey, Allah will give you a good reward;

وَإِن تَتَوَلَّوْا۟ كَمَا تَوَلَّيْتُم مِّن قَبْلُ يُعَذِّبْكُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا﴿١٦﴾

but if you turn away like you turned away before, He will punish you with a painful punishment.’(16)

لَّيْسَ عَلَى ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ حَرَجٌ وَلَا عَلَى ٱلْأَعْرَجِ حَرَجٌ وَلَا عَلَى ٱلْمَرِيضِ حَرَجٌ ۗ

There is no blame on the blind, nor is there any blame on the lame, nor is there blame on the sick [if they are unable to go out with the troops to face the enemies];

وَمَن يُطِعِ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ يُدْخِلْهُ جَنَّـٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۖ

and whoever obeys Allah and His Apostle, He will admit him into gardens with streams running in them,

وَمَن يَتَوَلَّ يُعَذِّبْهُ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا﴿١٧﴾

and whoever refuses to comply, He will punish him with a painful punishment.(17)

۞ لَّقَدْ رَضِىَ ٱللَّهُ عَنِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِذْ يُبَايِعُونَكَ تَحْتَ ٱلشَّجَرَةِ

Allah was certainly pleased with the faithful when they swore allegiance to you under the tree.

فَعَلِمَ مَا فِى قُلُوبِهِمْ فَأَنزَلَ ٱلسَّكِينَةَ عَلَيْهِمْ

He knew what was in their hearts, so He sent down composure on them,

وَأَثَـٰبَهُمْ فَتْحًا قَرِيبًا﴿١٨﴾

and requited them with a victory near at hand.(18)

وَمَغَانِمَ كَثِيرَةً يَأْخُذُونَهَا ۗ

and abundant spoils that they will capture,

وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَزِيزًا حَكِيمًا﴿١٩﴾

and Allah is all-mighty, all-wise.(19)

وَعَدَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ مَغَانِمَ كَثِيرَةً تَأْخُذُونَهَا

Allah has promised you abundant spoils, which you will capture.

فَعَجَّلَ لَكُمْ هَـٰذِهِۦ وَكَفَّ أَيْدِىَ ٱلنَّاسِ عَنكُمْ

He has expedited this one for you, and withheld men’s hands from you,

وَلِتَكُونَ ءَايَةً لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

so that it may be a sign for the faithful,

وَيَهْدِيَكُمْ صِرَٰطًا مُّسْتَقِيمًا﴿٢٠﴾

and that He may guide you to a straight path.(20)

وَأُخْرَىٰ لَمْ تَقْدِرُوا۟ عَلَيْهَا قَدْ أَحَاطَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا ۚ

And other [spoils as well] which you have not yet captured: Allah has comprehended them,

وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرًا﴿٢١﴾

and Allah has power over all things.(21)

وَلَوْ قَـٰتَلَكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوَلَّوُا۟ ٱلْأَدْبَـٰرَ

If the faithless fight you, they will turn their backs [to flee].

ثُمَّ لَا يَجِدُونَ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا﴿٢٢﴾

Then they will not find any protector or helper.(22)

سُنَّةَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّتِى قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلُ ۖ

[It is] Allah’s precedent that has passed before,

وَلَن تَجِدَ لِسُنَّةِ ٱللَّهِ تَبْدِيلًا﴿٢٣﴾

and you will never find any change in Allah’s precedent.(23)

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى كَفَّ أَيْدِيَهُمْ عَنكُمْ وَأَيْدِيَكُمْ عَنْهُم بِبَطْنِ مَكَّةَ

It is He who withheld their hands from you, and your hands from them, in the valley of Makkah,

مِنۢ بَعْدِ أَنْ أَظْفَرَكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ

after He had given you victory over them,

وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرًا﴿٢٤﴾

and Allah sees best what you do.(24)

هُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَصَدُّوكُمْ عَنِ ٱلْمَسْجِدِ ٱلْحَرَامِ

They are the ones who disbelieved and barred you from the Sacred Mosque,

وَٱلْهَدْىَ مَعْكُوفًا أَن يَبْلُغَ مَحِلَّهُۥ ۚ

and kept the offering from reaching its destination.

وَلَوْلَا رِجَالٌ مُّؤْمِنُونَ وَنِسَآءٌ مُّؤْمِنَـٰتٌ لَّمْ تَعْلَمُوهُمْ

And were it not for [certain] faithful men and faithful women, whom you did not know—

أَن تَطَـُٔوهُمْ فَتُصِيبَكُم مِّنْهُم مَّعَرَّةٌۢ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ ۖ

lest you should trample them, and thus the blame for [killing] them should fall on you unawares;

لِّيُدْخِلَ ٱللَّهُ فِى رَحْمَتِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ

[He held you back] so that Allah may admit into His mercy whomever He wishes.

لَوْ تَزَيَّلُوا۟ لَعَذَّبْنَا ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا﴿٢٥﴾

Had they been separate, We would have surely punished the faithless among them with a painful punishment.(25)

إِذْ جَعَلَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى قُلُوبِهِمُ ٱلْحَمِيَّةَ حَمِيَّةَ ٱلْجَـٰهِلِيَّةِ

When the faithless nourished bigotry in their hearts, the bigotry of pagan ignorance,

فَأَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ سَكِينَتَهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦ وَعَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

Allah sent down His composure upon His Apostle and the faithful,

وَأَلْزَمَهُمْ كَلِمَةَ ٱلتَّقْوَىٰ

and made them abide by the word of Godwariness,

وَكَانُوٓا۟ أَحَقَّ بِهَا وَأَهْلَهَا ۚ

for they were the worthiest of it and deserved it,

وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمًا﴿٢٦﴾

and Allah has knowledge of all things.(26)

لَّقَدْ صَدَقَ ٱللَّهُ رَسُولَهُ ٱلرُّءْيَا بِٱلْحَقِّ ۖ

Certainly Allah has fulfilled His Apostle’s vision in all truth:

لَتَدْخُلُنَّ ٱلْمَسْجِدَ ٱلْحَرَامَ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ءَامِنِينَ

You will surely enter the Sacred Mosque, God willing, in safety and without any fear,

مُحَلِّقِينَ رُءُوسَكُمْ وَمُقَصِّرِينَ لَا تَخَافُونَ ۖ

with your heads shaven or hair cropped.

فَعَلِمَ مَا لَمْ تَعْلَمُوا۟

So He knew what you did not know,

فَجَعَلَ مِن دُونِ ذَٰلِكَ فَتْحًا قَرِيبًا﴿٢٧﴾

and He assigned [you] besides that a victory near at hand.(27)

هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُۥ بِٱلْهُدَىٰ وَدِينِ ٱلْحَقِّ

It is He who has sent His Apostle with guidance and the true religion,

لِيُظْهِرَهُۥ عَلَى ٱلدِّينِ كُلِّهِۦ ۚ

that He may make it prevail over all religions,

وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدًا﴿٢٨﴾

and Allah suffices as witness.(28)

مُّحَمَّدٌ رَّسُولُ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ مَعَهُۥٓ أَشِدَّآءُ عَلَى ٱلْكُفَّارِ رُحَمَآءُ بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ

Muhammad, the Apostle of Allah, and those who are with him are hard against the faithless and merciful amongst themselves.

تَرَىٰهُمْ رُكَّعًا سُجَّدًا يَبْتَغُونَ فَضْلًا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَرِضْوَٰنًا ۖ

You see them bowing and prostrating [in worship], seeking Allah’s grace, and [His] pleasure.

سِيمَاهُمْ فِى وُجُوهِهِم مِّنْ أَثَرِ ٱلسُّجُودِ ۚ

Their mark is [visible] on their faces, from the effect of prostration.

ذَٰلِكَ مَثَلُهُمْ فِى ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ ۚ وَمَثَلُهُمْ فِى ٱلْإِنجِيلِ

Such is their description in the Torah and their description in the Evangel.

كَزَرْعٍ أَخْرَجَ شَطْـَٔهُۥ فَـَٔازَرَهُۥ فَٱسْتَغْلَظَ فَٱسْتَوَىٰ عَلَىٰ سُوقِهِۦ

Like a tillage that sends out its shoots and builds them up, and they grow stout and settle on their stalks,

يُعْجِبُ ٱلزُّرَّاعَ لِيَغِيظَ بِهِمُ ٱلْكُفَّارَ ۗ

impressing the sowers, so that He may enrage the faithless by them.

وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ مِنْهُم مَّغْفِرَةً وَأَجْرًا عَظِيمًۢا﴿٢٩﴾

Allah has promised those of them who have faith and do righteous deeds forgiveness and a great reward.(29)
